Which brush head and hardness/softness is right for you?

Choosing the right toothbrush is not just about brand or design – the softness of the bristles plays a decisive role in your dental health. From extra soft to hard, there are different options adapted to different needs. Here you get a simple overview of the most common terms and what they mean to you.

Extra soft (Ultra Soft/Super Soft)

  • Extremely gentle on the gums
  • Recommended for people with gum problems, sensitive gums or after dental surgery

Soft (Soft)

  • Most recommended by dentists
  • Gentle on gums and enamel, but still effective for cleaning
  • Suitable for most people, especially those with sensitive gums

Medium

  • Has stiffer bristles, but still relatively gentle
  • Provides a more intense cleaning
  • May be too harsh for people with sensitive gums

Hard

  • Stiff bristles that provide more powerful scrubbing
  • Can damage the gums and wear down the enamel over time
  • Not suitable for most daily brushing routines, but can be used for specific cleaning needs (e.g. dentures)
